Oil magnates to fridge magnets
Adapt K2’s project management expertise to meet the needs of two FTSE clients with vastly differing company cultures: a global commodities company relocating to Geneva, and a world leading beverage conglomerate, establishing new locations in Latin America.
Reactivity, limiting risk.
Swimming against a trend in remote communications, K2 gave an accountable face to both projects. Within two weeks of approval we had established our own independent, on the ground, presence in locations specific to the two projects. Empowering our Project Specialists to carry out on site quality checks and respond instantly to escalations ensured that K2 were able to exceed expectations in the delivery of both projects. Upon engagement of each project K2 created strategic pricing matrices, negotiating preferential rates with vendors in all locations and establishing housing, immigration, schooling and legal experts. K2’s buying power throughout the projects provided our clients with significant and tangible cost savings.
A people’s policy
A multinational law firm undergoing a multimillion dollar merger, must design a new International Assignments policy to be implemented on a global scale. The policy must not alienate existing employees, reduce exceptions and retain a positive impression for would be assignees.
Global knowledge, local expertise.
A critical element the development of any policies is a smooth alignment with company culture. We allowed our client to take stock of their existing policies, preparing benchmark policy documents based on companies with a similar demographic and culture to theirs. Ensuring that their shipping policy was in line with their industry competitors, and studying their previous policy exceptions and useage trends enabled K2 to successfully advice our client on how best to optimise the budgets for each level throughout the firm.
K2 played a pivotal role in the implementation of the new policy, globally training our client services teams to be brilliantly positioned in communicating to assignees, and visiting key stakeholders to discuss the implementation and impact on our service provisions.
Liberation in Libya
In October 2012, K2 received a request to report on the feasibility and security of founding a new office location in post-revolution Libya. The corporate, multinational client proposed a 24 hour deadline, and the information was to be integral to their decision to support services in Libya.
Reaching out to our well established vendor network, we were swiftly able to speak to trusted sources on the ground. By outsourcing to multiple, vetted specialists we were able to provide a secure research and recommendations report, assessing and comparing the feasibility of establishing in need specific areas of Libya.
The report focused on security, communications, pricing, and availability- of consumer goods, properties, skilled local staff, and recreational options.
We met the deadline, liberating and empowering our client to make a fully informed business decision.
Big Cheese to the Big Apple
Support and enhance the onboarding of a new President for one of the world’s largest corporate investment banks.
With the weight of a Fortune 500 company coming to rest on their shoulders, our clients needed absolute confidence that flawless support would enhance the onboarding experience of their new company President – including during the relocation to New York City.
Process driven perfection.
By classifying and securing all data in our K2 Extranet system, the K2 country managing director provided personal and appropriate accountability throughout this senior level relocation. From pre-briefings with the client’s global mobility specialists, to a clearly defined communication approach, we tailored the service to exactly meet the requirements of our client and their high-level assignee.
From furnishing fridges to providing 24 hour on the ground support, we ensured consistency and quality from the first point of communication to the final cup of coffee.
Banking on us
No one has been hit harder by the credit crunch than the financial institutions. With a ballooning assignee population and decreasing head count, a long standing banking client called on K2, as an impartial resource, to help identify and resolve inefficiencies in process and protocol.
Small change, large impact.
We constantly source cost efficiencies for our clients. By providing our client with a global mobility expert to work in-house at their facilities, we were quickly able to identify and communicate process enhancements to reduce administration. Over a six month period our K2 resource joined the client, providing a value-add resource and expert guidance to a fledgling team.
In 2008, 45% of our client base were offering assignees the career incentive of short term assignments. The short term assignments were supported by excess baggage, in contradiction to the high quality culture of their companies.
Low cost, high touch.
K2 created a new service- Short Term Mobility Shipments. Purchasing a raft of ‘blue eco boxes’, we offered a cost effective and high quality alternative to excess baggage. By allowing assignees to pack their effects and retain foldable ‘blue eco boxes’ throughout their assignments, we significantly reduced cardboard waste, and the discomfort of carrying between 40 and 100 Kg from airport to airport.
The blue eco box solution is managed using a fixed price matrix- we negotiate the economies of scale with our global vendors and pass these savings on to our clients. The fixed price matrix enables our clients to accurately produce cost estimates for single or group assignments, and track cost savings against this projection.
Since 2008, K2’s blue crates have travelled 200,000 miles, saving the equivalent of 6,000 cardboard cartons.
